More Reps Instead Of Better Reps

Strength training plays an important role in your effort to lose weight, but you shouldn't make the mistake of aiming for a high number of reps and, as a result, sacrifice doing the exercises correctly. While it might be tempting to try to do 100 push-ups per day, for example, you're better off aiming for a lower number and concentrating on using the correct form. If you're performing strength-training exercises with high reps, there's often a strong likelihood that you're not doing the exercise correctly. This can reduce its effectiveness as well as potentially lead to an injury that could delay your weight loss progress.

Wearing A Sauna Suit

You may occasionally see people at the gym who are exercising in a rubber or plastic sauna suit to sweat more. While this might be tempting, it won't actually contribute to weight loss. Excess sweating simply depletes your body of water, and drinking water after your workout will quickly rehydrate you. Sweating has nothing to do with burning calories. Additionally, those who use sauna suits are at risk of overheating, which can lead to several serious health issues.

Not Allowing Days For Rest

It's admirable to want to visit your gym to work out every day in your effort to lose weight, but it's important to achieve some balance by allowing rest days. When you're giving your body some rest, it's strengthening its muscles to help get you through a future workout. If this rest period isn't allowed, you could put too much strain on your muscles and end up with an injury that prevents you from working out at all, thus curtailing your efforts to lose weight. There's no magic formula of workout days versus rest days that works for everyone; generally, though, a couple workout days, followed by a rest day, is a good habit to adopt.
